Bechtel, through its equipment leasing arm Bechtel Equipment Operations Inc. (BEO), needed a flexible tool inventory control system to manage massive quantities of tools across global construction projects and mobile tool cribs. After trying several other systems, Bechtel selected ToolHound and its TOOLHOUND ONSITE product to better track tool usage at job sites and improve control over inventory.

ToolHound implemented a bar code and radio-frequency based tracking system that scanned employee IDs and tools in real time, with setup, data import, and operator training handled on site. The result was greater accountability, with reliable records of who last had each tool and improved control from project to project; Bechtel reported that everywhere ToolHound was installed, they had better control.
