A ToolHound Case Study
AMECO, which manages tool, equipment and PPE supply for major construction projects, faced the challenge of tracking a very large on-site inventory efficiently on the £775 million Scotford Upgrader project in Alberta. Using ToolHound’s HOUNDWARE ONSITE product, AMECO needed to manage 780,000 items worth £13.6 million across 8,800 workers and 23 distribution centres, while improving accountability, speed and reporting.
ToolHound’s HOUNDWARE ONSITE solution used barcode-based tracking, wireless handheld scanners and real-time database updates to record every issue and return instantly. The result was measurable savings, including about £474,000 per year in distribution centre labour, £947,000 in worker time savings, and stronger control that helped avoid delays and reduce loss; it also cut manual stock-check effort, saving an estimated £14,508 annually on quarterly counts alone.
