Case Study: PTV Group helps DiRIF improve Paris traffic management with TomTom traffic data

Driving better traffic management on one of Europe’s busiest road networks

The PTV Group, working with the highway authority for the Paris metropolitan region (DiRIF), faced the challenge of managing the vast and complex road network around Paris, where traffic congestion and bottlenecks were a constant issue. To gain clear and accurate insights into real-time traffic conditions, they partnered with vendor TomTom and leveraged its Floating Car Data service.

TomTom's solution provided PTV Group with rich, real-time traffic data, which was integrated into PTV's algorithms and DiRIF's public traffic platform, Sytadin.fr. This significantly enhanced the reliability of live traffic updates, allowing for better management of congestion and road closures. The results include daily service for approximately 100,000 users and have prepared the road network to effectively handle major events like the 2024 Olympics.
