Daimler sought to reduce fuel consumption, emissions, and operational costs for its Mercedes-Benz Actros truck drivers and fleet managers. To tackle this challenge, Daimler partnered with vendor TomTom and Bosch to develop a Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) system.

The solution integrated the highly accurate TomTom ADAS Map, which provides critical road data like topography and speed limits. This enhancement allowed the vehicle's PPC system to anticipate the road ahead and optimize the powertrain for maximum efficiency. TomTom's technology was proven to reduce fuel consumption by 5% per vehicle annually, resulting in significant cost and emissions savings for Daimler's customers.
