A Tomedes Case Study
TUMO, a tuition-free nonprofit education center, needed to translate its extensive creative technology curriculum from English into both Spanish and Basque for its expansion into new regions. The challenge involved accurately localizing highly technical and diverse content across 14 different disciplines for teenage learners, with the added complexity of finding qualified translators for Basque, a rare minority language. TUMO selected the translation and localization services of vendor Tomedes to handle this large-scale project.
Tomedes implemented a solution by assembling specialist linguist teams, each matched to a specific subject domain, and added a dedicated register review to preserve a direct, accessible voice for students. For Basque, they conducted targeted recruitment to find rare specialists. The result was a fully localized curriculum delivered on schedule with zero terminology issues raised post-deployment. Tomedes successfully ensured that language was not a barrier to learning, enabling TUMO to provide its world-class education to Spanish and Basque-speaking teens.
