Toll Group worked with the largest mining company to address a safety risk during the unloading of material from triple trailers. The challenge was to prevent operators from opening the wrong trailer or unloading in the wrong location while integrating a solution that would not interfere with existing on-site equipment.

Toll Group implemented interlocking tipping sensors using RFID and Wi‑Fi technology, with transceivers and readers installed at the mine site tipping bridge and on each truck. The system only allows tipping when a trailer is correctly aligned, with LED indicators guiding operators in-cab and a fail-safe preventing incorrect use; after testing, it was rolled out to five Toll triple road trains and later enhanced to warn if a tipping bin was left open before departure.
