Chevron needed reliable construction freight and logistics support for its Gorgon Project on Barrow Island, a remote and environmentally sensitive nature reserve off Western Australia. Because everything had to be brought to the island and pass strict quarantine controls, Toll Group was engaged to manage the complex supply chain and on-island supply base.

Toll Group built and operated the Barrow Island supply base from Perth, handling freight arrivals by barge, landing craft, and air, as well as receipt, storage, preservation, accounting, and distribution of materials without traditional warehouses or yards. Toll Group also provided bulk fuel, waste management, cleaning, maintenance, and crane support, helping the project keep pace with construction and workforce growth; the on-island team expanded from one person to 450, supporting up to 3,000 construction personnel in the flagship camp.
