Toll Group supports an Australian supermarket chain, Coles, with supply chain logistics across Queensland and northern New South Wales, delivering dry and refrigerated groceries, fresh produce, liquor and general merchandise to 195 stores. The challenge was safely accessing delivery points at sites that varied widely in complexity, from narrow streets and steep driveways to underground loading areas and shopping centre car parks.

Toll Group implemented a site-specific driver training program using colour-coded site assessments and video “mud maps” that show the final 500 metres to each difficult delivery point, with commentary on risks and hazards. The videos are used alongside printed mud maps and buddy-up training for first-time red-site deliveries. The result has been improved driver preparedness, reduced equipment damage, and better back-of-store delivery safety across more than 600 deliveries a day.
