MRC Global, a leading global distributor of pipe, valve, and fitting products operating in more than 44 countries, needed a better way to protect sensitive payment, PII, and unstructured data across its many ERP systems and payment channels. As its online and EDI transactions grew, the company faced increasing PCI compliance burdens and international data privacy requirements, and it turned to TokenEx and the TokenEx Cloud Security Platform for help.

TokenEx implemented enterprise-wide tokenization, using its Web Services API and cloud data vault to replace sensitive data with tokens, secure payment data at the point of entry, and support multiple systems and payment processors without locking MRC Global into a single vendor. The project was completed in just eight weeks, immediately removed sensitive data from MRC Global’s systems, reduced PCI compliance scope and related audit/testing costs, and eliminated the risk and liability associated with storing valuable payment data internally.
