NSW Government (Office of the Children’s Guardian) expands First Nations WWCC access with Today

The vendor Today partnered with the NSW Government's Office of the Children’s Guardian to address a challenge where First Nations peoples were significantly underrepresented in applying for a Working with Children Check (WWCC). The challenge was to demystify the process and build trust, overcoming the fear and justified cultural beliefs that prevented many from applying.

Today's solution involved a co-design process that included one-on-one interviews and stakeholder workshops to map the WWCC experience and identify barriers. This led to a redesigned, more accessible check that provides culturally appropriate support. The solution was successfully implemented across NSW, increasing access to work and services for First Nations peoples and ensuring more children are cared for within their own communities. Today's work received multiple awards, including a Premier's Design Award and a Good Design Gold Award for Social Impact.
