Magistrate’s Court of Victoria launches Australia’s first online FVIO form in early February 2020 with Today

The Magistrate’s Court of Victoria faced a challenge with its paper-based system for filing family violence intervention orders, a process that was complex and manually intensive for applicants and court staff. The vendor Today partnered with the court to deliver a digital transformation, creating Australia's first online application form for this vital service.

Today designed and implemented a streamlined online application form and a portal for court registrars. The solution used simplified language to reduce cognitive load for users and introduced features like remote amendments and proactive expiry notifications. This resulted in a more accessible and efficient process for over 85,000 annual applications. Today's work also received recognition with a Good Design Award Gold for Social Impact in 2020.
