Art Gallery of New South Wales launches Dora in December 2022 with Today
The Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW) faced the challenge of creating a technological audio companion for its new Sydney Modern Project that would enhance, rather than detract from, the visitor experience. They partnered with the vendor Today to design a solution that would act as a way into the art, fostering a personal connection between visitors and the gallery space.
Today developed Dora, an 'eyes up' audio companion. The simple interface requires visitors to enter numbers found near artworks to access a mosaic of voices and music, allowing them to build their own path through the gallery. Launched in December 2022, the solution received overwhelmingly positive feedback for its ease of use and rich content. The project, which won multiple design awards, enables AGNSW to understand visitor engagement and successfully delivers an inclusive experience in line with the gallery's motto.
