Case Study: EnQuest identifies remaining oil pockets and improves field rejuvenation with tNavigator

A tNavigator Case Study

Preview of the EnQuest Case Study

EnQuest A typical UK Northern North Sea oil field waterflood in a very heterogeneous Brent reservoir

EnQuest faced a significant challenge with its Heather Field in the UK North Sea, a mature asset with 38 years of waterflood development. Despite this long history, recovery remained low at only 26% due to a highly heterogeneous reservoir. Existing methods were ineffective at locating substantial remaining oil pockets, and conventional simulation was seen as too complex and slow to be useful. EnQuest turned to the tNavigator reservoir simulation platform to address this issue.

By leveraging tNavigator's capabilities, EnQuest built a fully history-matched model that could handle the field's complexity without prohibitive runtimes. The tNavigator solution successfully identified local thief zones where water had broken through and pinpointed specific layers with significant remaining oil. This outcome enabled EnQuest to define targetable oil-in-place in the main field, transforming the possibility of rejuvenating the asset.
