A TmaxSoft Case Study
Global Insurance Company, a global property and casualty insurer with millions of contracts and close to 100 trading partners worldwide, was running its core business on an IBM mainframe. The company faced rising mainframe costs, inflexible infrastructure, and performance and capacity constraints that were affecting availability, reliability, and business agility. Vendor TmaxSoft provided the OpenFrame rehosting solution to help modernize its legacy environment.
TmaxSoft migrated the insurer’s applications and data from the mainframe to an open system, including 7,000 online programs, 19,000 batch programs, 22,000 JCLs, and more than 2,100 database tables. The phased rollout was completed in 12 months and delivered major gains: a $17.5 million cost reduction over five years, 10,000 MIPS CPU capability, 4x faster transactions, 200-millisecond response times, and improved batch processing with high performance and reliability.
