Case Study: Leading US Retailer reduces costs and boosts ROI with TmaxSoft OpenFrame

A TmaxSoft Case Study

Preview of the Leading US Retailer Case Study

A leading integrated retailer reduces costs and increases ROI with OpenFrame

Leading US Retailer, a major integrated U.S. retail company with full-line and specialty stores, needed to cut rising mainframe costs while preserving business logic and user experience. Its 10 core business systems, running on six IBM mainframes, were becoming expensive and difficult to manage, with tightly coupled IMS environments and increasing maintenance and licensing fees. TmaxSoft addressed these challenges with OpenFrame and Tibero as the modernization path.

TmaxSoft rehosted 24 critical IMS applications and related batch processes from IBM mainframes to a private Linux cloud, including COBOL applications, data sets, and DBMS migration, while maintaining integration with systems still on mainframes and IBM DB2 databases. The phased rollout was completed in 12 months, delivering a 50% reduction in costs, improved ROI, a more manageable environment, and no change to the end-user experience.
