As the network grew beyond the U.S., manual payment processes (largely via PayPal) became time-consuming, costly and error-prone—creating currency conversion headaches, limited payment-method options, complex tax and regulatory reporting across 30+ regions, and increased fraud/compliance risk.
Boost replaced PayPal with Tipalti’s global payment automation, which centralized payee validation, tax-form processing and multi-currency payouts while expanding available payment methods. The switch recovered 5–10 staff hours per week, reduced fees, improved OFAC compliance, increased regional penetration and added thousands of contributors; payees receive faster, lower-cost payments and Boost’s team can focus on growth and higher-value work.
