University of Münster streamlines attendance tracking for 44,500 students with TinyMDM

The University of Münster, one of the largest universities in Germany, needed a solution to track student attendance for its Faculty of Medicine after switching from barcode scanners to RFID cards. Their challenge was to deploy a large number of uniformly configured Android smartphones with an easy setup process while preventing any changes to the devices or need for user training. They turned to the vendor TinyMDM for its mobile device management solution.

TinyMDM provided a solution with little administrative overhead that met the university's requirements for a reasonable price. The implementation allowed for an easy device enrollment process, locked down the smartphones to prevent any setup changes, and eliminated the need for any training for the lecturers. As a result, employees could set up the devices using only a short installation guide, and the lecturers could use the phones solely for their intended purpose of attendance tracking.
