Canva ships user-facing analytics 5x faster with Tinybird

Canva, a leading online design platform, needed to build user-facing analytics features for its customers but found its existing Snowflake-based data platform was too slow and expensive for real-time use cases. Their engineers were spending excessive time creating and maintaining custom "speed layer" solutions to move data into operational databases like MySQL and DynamoDB, which was difficult to scale and could not meet their strict latency requirements. They turned to the Tinybird real-time analytics platform to find a purpose-built solution.

By implementing Tinybird, Canva's engineering teams were able to build and ship new features dramatically faster and at a much lower cost. The solution provided a sub-100ms p99 latency and a low-skill SQL barrier for developers. The results were significant: Tinybird helped Canva achieve a 10x reduction in compute costs, an 8x faster development cycle, and a 25,000x improvement in end-to-end latency. Within just 12 months, Canva shipped seven new user-facing features using Tinybird.
