A Tintri Case Study
William Woods University, an independent private university in Missouri, needed to expand its campus-wide VDI environment while overcoming storage latency and insufficient IOPS in its existing VMware Horizon deployment. With a small IT team and a tight budget, the university also wanted to reduce the time spent on routine desktop and application updates, and support more flexible access for students, faculty, and staff.
Tintri implemented a Tintri T540 for William Woods University’s VMware VDI environment after a successful proof of concept against six storage platforms. Tintri eliminated latency, improved desktop performance, and made administration much simpler—configuration reportedly took just 36 seconds. The results included cutting application update time from over 50 hours to 10 minutes, reducing power consumption by 95%, and enabling faster, anywhere access to virtual desktops for more than 4,000 users.
