Valley City State University faced major storage and disaster recovery challenges after a devastating flood and the loss of support for its existing Coraid storage, which was also slow and difficult to manage. The university needed a VMware-friendly, easy-to-administer platform to support online learning, databases, and campus applications, and it turned to Tintri for a new storage solution.

Tintri implemented VMstore T820 systems, which VCSU deployed in less than 15 minutes. The result was simpler storage management, stronger disaster recovery, and a 50% to 60% performance boost for Oracle and MySQL workloads, with nightly backups reduced to almost nothing. Tintri also helped the university cut storage costs to less than half of the legacy option.
