University of Paderborn - Customer Case Study

The University of Paderborn, a German higher-education institution with a large VMware vSphere environment, was struggling with inadequate performance from its HP LeftHand storage, especially for high-demand applications like its library search engine and virtual machine backups. The IT team needed a simpler, more transparent storage platform built for virtualization, and evaluated Tintri as a potential replacement.

Tintri implemented VMstore T880 systems to support about 500 virtual machines, giving the university VM-level visibility and easier management. The result was much faster performance, simpler integration, and quicker troubleshooting, with backup and database operations improving dramatically compared with the old storage setup.
