A Tintri Case Study
The University of Hull, a higher education institution in Yorkshire, England, was running a large VMware vSphere environment on aging NetApp storage and faced shrinking capacity, rising costs, and declining performance. As storage management became harder and the university prepared to launch new services, it needed a more scalable and easier-to-manage platform. Tintri, via its VM-aware storage approach, was selected to replace the legacy systems.
Tintri implemented four Tintri VMstore 800-series systems across two campus data centers for geo-resilience and redundancy. The solution improved performance, simplified support and management, reduced datacenter footprint, and enabled new applications and student services to go live. The University of Hull reported that Tintri met or surpassed expectations for performance, manageability, and resiliency, and became its default storage platform for virtual systems.
