University of Freiburg selects Tintri for virtualized infrastructure

The University of Freiburg, one of Germany’s oldest and most renowned universities, needed a modern storage platform for its highly virtualized VMware environment after older systems caused slow performance, downtime, and heavy administrative overhead. The university wanted simpler management and better support for its central datacenter, which runs about 400 VMs and key services such as email, user administration, and web applications, and it chose Tintri as part of the solution.

Tintri implemented two VMstore T880 hybrid-flash arrays managed with Tintri Global Center, along with ReplicateVM and SyncVM for easy replication and recovery between sites. The result was high-performance storage with straightforward deployment and management, eliminating performance complaints and improving reliability; the university reported that even demanding applications now run without issues, and Tintri helped make VM migration and replication much easier.
