Tintri Enables Premier to Reduce Healthcare Delivery Costs for Thousands of Medical Providers

Premier, Inc., a large not-for-profit healthcare alliance serving thousands of hospitals and providers, was struggling with costly SCSI-based storage that created severe IOPS bottlenecks, poor visibility, and too much dependence on storage specialists. To support its VMware environment and VDI/dev-qa workloads, Premier evaluated Tintri VMstore™ T650 systems as a more manageable and cost-effective alternative.

Tintri implemented VM-aware flash storage for Premier’s dev/QA and virtual desktop environments, quickly moving from a proof of concept to production. The results included higher IOPS, simpler self-service provisioning, VDI boot times cut in half, and a much smaller datacenter footprint—Premier now runs 1,200 dev/QA VMs and 600 virtual desktops on five Tintri T650 systems while also reducing power and space usage.
