The Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte - Customer Case Study

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte, which manages IT for multiple schools, parishes, and Catholic Charities locations in North Carolina, was struggling with aging Dell EqualLogic storage, poor virtual environment performance, and limited backup capacity. The organization needed a more powerful, easier-to-manage storage platform to support its VMware environment and future thin client plans, and chose Tintri VMstore as the vendor’s product/service.

Tintri implemented a VMstore T820 for the Diocese’s production workloads, including Exchange, SharePoint, Active Directory, SQL databases, and other applications. The results were strong: remote desktop login times dropped from 30–60 seconds to under 10 seconds, storage management was simplified, and Tintri deduplication reduced the environment from 30 TB to 12 TB, saving at least 25% in disk space while improving snapshot and disaster recovery capabilities.
