South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust Deploys VDI on Tintri Storage

South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, which serves more than 440,000 people in Northern Ireland, needed a way to deliver fast, secure single sign-on access to virtual desktops for thousands of healthcare workers. Its existing storage platform struggled with VDI performance spikes even for a small pilot of 50 users, making scalability and end-user experience major concerns. Tintri and its VMstore storage systems were chosen to support the Trust’s VMware Horizon View VDI environment with Imprivata OneSign SSO.

Tintri implemented two VMstore systems plus Tintri Global Center, giving the Trust a simple, high-performance, and easily scalable storage foundation. The result was rapid deployment, with installation taking 2-3 hours and configuration just five minutes, and access to virtual desktops in under 7 seconds. The VDI environment grew from 600 desktops to over 2,400 users, while management became easier, redundancy improved, and Tintri helped eliminate storage bottlenecks for future expansion.
