Elon University, a private liberal arts university in North Carolina, was struggling with complex, time-consuming storage management on its legacy EMC SANs as its virtualized environment grew. Managing LUNs, troubleshooting performance issues, and supporting a Citrix VDI project on VMware vSphere created operational pain, and the IT team needed a simpler, more flexible storage platform. Tintri was brought in as a replacement option, with Tintri VMstore systems evaluated for the university’s virtual workloads.

Tintri implemented two VMstore systems to support Elon University’s production, test/dev, ERP, SQL, web, and VDI environments. The results were immediate: deployment took just 25 to 30 minutes, storage footprint dropped from 60U to 6U, and the IT team gained VM-level visibility that removed the guesswork from performance troubleshooting.
