A Tintri Case Study
The United States Department of Defense Cyber Range needed a storage platform that could keep up with a highly dynamic modeling and simulation environment where hundreds or thousands of VMs had to be deployed quickly for training and testing. Its legacy storage system was difficult to scale, took weeks to provision new environments, and created performance bottlenecks during customer exercises, while also increasing footprint, cooling, and power demands.
Tintri implemented VMstore T540 and T650 systems, along with replication and management tools, to support rapid VM provisioning, backup, and disaster recovery. With Tintri, the DoD Cyber Range cut VM deployment time from two weeks to minutes, reduced its datacenter footprint from 3 racks to 1.5, and lowered power consumption by a factor of 25 to 1. Tintri also improved performance, simplified storage management, and enabled non-disruptive backups and replication.
