Concourse Hosting Scales its Hosted Blackbaud Environments and Greatly Reduces TCO with Tintri and VMware

Concourse Hosting, a Seattle-based hosting service provider specializing in Blackbaud environments, was struggling with storage that couldn’t keep up with growing customer demand. Its traditional Dell EqualLogic arrays made performance and scaling difficult, with SQL queries taking up to six hours and storage management becoming increasingly complex across dozens of LUNs and volumes. Concourse Hosting needed a simpler, more scalable VM storage solution from Tintri that could support hundreds of virtual machines and improve visibility across customer workloads.

Tintri implemented two Tintri VMstore T540 systems to host Concourse Hosting’s performance-intensive Blackbaud environments. The VM-aware, Flash First architecture significantly improved performance, boosting database speed by 99 percent and cutting SQL query times from six hours to four minutes. With Tintri, Concourse Hosting was able to run more than 150 high-performance customer environments on a single system, reduce operational overhead, avoid adding staff, and lower TCO enough to expand into a second datacenter.
