BBS Technology, a vocational school in Germany, needed to expand its VMware-based VDI environment for hundreds of campus users while overcoming severe storage latency, complex management, and poor boot performance. The school was looking for a faster, easier-to-manage storage solution for its virtual desktops, and evaluated Tintri as a fit for its growing VMware View environment.

Tintri implemented one VMstore T540 array for BBS Technology’s campus-wide VDI deployment. The result was a dramatic improvement: latency dropped from 5 seconds to under 10 milliseconds, boot times fell to about one minute, and Tintri enabled persistent desktops for all users. BBS Technology also said Tintri simplified storage and desktop management, and the array was installed in under 10 minutes.
