How Wordcamp Captured Attendee Attention While Pivoting From a 350 Person in-person Event to a 1,400 Attendee Global Conference in the Face of Covid-19

WordCamp San Antonio, a local chapter of the global WordCamp conference series, faced a sudden COVID-19 pivot: turning a 350‑person in‑person event into the world’s first all‑virtual WordCamp and scaling to a 1,400‑attendee global conference. Their challenges were to move the event online, ensure compatibility with Crowdcast streaming software, and preserve the high levels of attendee and sponsor engagement that define WordCamp.

TINT supported the transition by testing integrations with Crowdcast and deploying a three‑pronged approach—TINTmix to cycle live social content, sponsor slides, and welcome materials; white‑glove monitoring to curate displayed content and social mentions; and daily reporting. The result was a successful virtual conference with more than 1,400 attendees from dozens of countries, strong social engagement, frequent sponsor visibility, and useful analytics (including exportable PDFs) that organizers used to report impact.
