Canon Engages a New Generation of Photographers With 2,000+ Social Contest Entries

Canon Europe, a leading imaging company, wanted to inspire a new generation of photographers who primarily use smartphones and build a community of user-generated photography. To do this it launched the #FreeYourStory contest across 11 markets, but faced the complexity of coordinating multi-language entry pages, local governance and GDPR requirements, and judging thousands of submissions.

Canon used TINT’s Experience Builder and managed services to create mobile‑responsive, localized entry pages without developers, streamline submission tagging and judging, and train local stakeholders. The campaign generated 2,000+ entries, 67% of entrants were under 30, 43% opted in to future marketing, the entry page received 22K+ views, and the #FreeYourStory hashtag has grown to about 10,000 Instagram posts—turning the contest into an ongoing community-building effort.
