A Tink Case Study
Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), Portugal’s largest state-owned banking group, faced the challenge of quickly modernizing its digital offering to meet rising mobile and open banking expectations. To deliver a first-class mobile experience and help nearly 4 million customers better understand and manage their money, CGD partnered with Tink to leverage Tink’s open banking platform and build a new personal finance management app.
Working with Tink, CGD launched DABOX in six months — a bank‑agnostic PFM app that aggregates accounts, tracks spending by category, sets budgets and delivers personalised insights. The Tink-powered solution became Portugal’s first open banking app, won Portugal Digital Awards and European Excellence Awards, attracted 50,000 downloads in four months, and drove measurable adoption (33% of users were new to CGD; 49% of aggregations are from other banks), boosting customer engagement and loyalty.
