Case Study: WaterBridge achieves real-time data consistency with TimescaleDB

A Timescale Case Study

WaterBridge ingests 10,000 data points per second with Timescale

WaterBridge, an oil and gas production water reuse and disposal company, needed a reliable data historian to replace its costly and degrading SQL Server database. The challenge was to ingest and display up to 10,000 data points per second in real time for its control room to monitor pipeline operations and ensure safety. The company turned to Timescale and implemented TimescaleDB to address this need.

By using TimescaleDB as its data historian, WaterBridge achieved massive data compression, reducing its storage footprint from over 72 terabytes to just 3.9 terabytes. The solution provided the real-time data consistency critical for operations and enabled the use of continuous aggregates for efficient analytics. Timescale's implementation allowed WaterBridge to lay the foundation for future predictive maintenance models while significantly cutting costs.
