SAKURA Internet, a leading Japanese cloud and internet service provider, needed a better way to manage and analyze the large volumes of time-series data generated by its IoT and cloud services. Its existing database systems struggled with high ingestion rates and complex real-time analytics queries, leading to slow performance and higher maintenance overhead. Timescale, through TimescaleDB, was used to address these challenges.

With TimescaleDB, SAKURA Internet improved ingestion speed, query performance, and overall reliability through efficient time-series handling, automatic partitioning, and continuous aggregates. The results included stable performance, significantly improved insert rates, and a 94% compression ratio—compressing 1,396 GB of uncompressed data down to 77 GB. Timescale helped SAKURA Internet deliver real-time analytics while reducing maintenance costs and improving customer satisfaction.
