Palas, a German company specializing in precision aerosol technology and air quality measurement devices, needed a way to manage the high volume of real-time environmental data generated by its sensors. As its devices supported smart city, construction, and research use cases worldwide, Palas required a scalable, cost-effective platform for fast ingestion, flexible access, and complex querying. TimescaleDB was the product used to address these needs.

Using TimescaleDB, Palas improved data management efficiency with high-speed ingestion and fast query performance while keeping infrastructure lean. Timescale reported results including average query times of 25 milliseconds, insertion rates of 0.3 milliseconds per data point, and a reduction in database size from 200 GB to 55 GB through compression, all while running on just 2 CPUs and 4 GB of RAM.
