Shoppers Drug Mart needed to convert its annual Beauty Lover in-store event into a virtual experience due to social distancing, aiming to boost awareness of its beauty offerings and drive traffic to its online store and beauty masterclass sessions. The retailer partnered with TikTok for Business and used TikTok creative solutions including a Branded Hashtag Challenge and a custom 3D Branded Effect, supported by premium placements.

TikTok for Business launched the #BeautyLoverReveal challenge, worked with five creators to demonstrate the effect, and promoted the campaign via TopView, One Day Max and In-Feed Ads. The effort generated 97M hashtag views, 5K+ Branded Effect video creations, a 9.3% lift in ad recall, and thousands of user-created TikToks featuring Shoppers Drug Mart products, while marking TikTok’s first Branded Effect in Canada and a North American first for beauty.
