Wendy’s New Zealand partnered with TikTok for Business and local media agency Together to boost sales of its seasonal Summer Sparklers beverage range during the summer period. The challenge was to stand out against strong soft drink competitors and drive more traffic to Wendy’s locations with a creative campaign that would resonate with changing customer behavior.

TikTok for Business helped enable a weather-triggered automated advertising approach using the TikTok Campaign Management API and a third-party Weather API to switch In-Feed Ad groups on and off based on local weather in key New Zealand cities. The campaign increased Summer Sparklers sales by 85% year over year, beat Wendy’s goal to double sales by 47%, delivered NZ$2.18 for every dollar spent, and also drove repeat purchases and incremental sales across the broader menu.
