Ippen Digital, a subsidiary of the Ippen Publishing Group in Germany, needed to help publishers transition from falling print ad revenues to new digital revenue streams by making smarter use of content and audience data. Their existing in-house recommendation engine could not deliver the highly customized, real-time suggestions they required, so Ippen evaluated graph database technologies and selected TigerGraph to address those limitations.
TigerGraph’s native parallel graph database and knowledge-graph approach simplified data preparation and enabled powerful contextual, real-time deep-link analytics to augment Ippen’s recommender. Using TigerGraph, Ippen built 360-degree reader profiles that surface similarities across users, articles and ads to deliver hyper-personalized recommendations—boosting engagement and unlocking new digital revenue opportunities for publishers.
