Turning Point Las Cruces is a women’s healthcare clinic that provides free pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, obstetric care and counseling. The clinic struggled to keep staff coordinated and meet patient communication preferences: an ineffective after-hours message service and a single shared “nurse phone” made scheduling, secure record-keeping, and timely follow-up difficult and chaotic.
Turning Point implemented TigerConnect Patient Engagement — a HIPAA-compliant platform for secure texting, calls, video, a patient queue and a virtual Waiting Room accessible on laptops and smartphones — which centralized staff and patient communication and replaced the shared phone. In two months staff logged about 1,000 texts, the number of patients seen doubled, pregnancy tests and ultrasounds rose, appointment no‑shows fell 5%, and incoming calls decreased while same‑day scheduling and off‑duty coverage improved.
