A TigerConnect Case Study
Mt. Hood Hospice is a small, not-for-profit community hospice serving patients in Multnomah and Clackamas counties with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, social workers, chaplains, aides and volunteers. Coordinating care for 35–40 patients living across many private homes and facilities was difficult: staff relied on phones and nonsecure texts, raising HIPAA and efficiency problems and placing heavy on-call demands on the single physician.
Mt. Hood implemented TigerConnect’s HIPAA-compliant, multi-platform messaging (including photos) and defined a three-tier workflow—phone for emergencies, secure texts for same-day issues, and secure email for nonurgent matters. The change sped communication, improved clinical decision-making (e.g., wound assessment via images), reduced unnecessary phone time for the physician, simplified onboarding, and maintained secure, auditable messaging.
