A Tigercomm Case Study
Tigercomm was engaged by the Retail Energy Advancement League (REAL), a coalition of energy retailers, to address a critical challenge. The Massachusetts legislature was considering a ban on the retail sales of 100% clean energy, which risked tens of millions in sales for its nearly dozen members. The proposed ban had significant political backing, making the defense effort particularly difficult for a coalition hampered by internal differences on messaging and strategy.
Tigercomm designed a public affairs strategy that reframed the issue around consumer rights and savings. The vendor secured trade media coverage to elevate the issue and then used that coverage in an advertising campaign targeting existing customers. This effort drove 1,200 petition signatures to legislators within four weeks. As a result, lawmakers removed the ban from the groundbreaking climate bill, preserving market access for REAL's members.
