Case Study: Atlassian achieves Kubernetes security and microsegmentation with Tigera Calico

A Tigera Case Study

Preview of the Atlassian Case Study

Tigera secures Atlassian’s path to containers in the cloud

Atlassian, a global SaaS company behind products like Jira Software, Confluence, and Trello, needed to build a secure, managed Kubernetes platform in AWS to support a wide range of workloads, including customer-sensitive applications and code execution in its Bitbucket/Bamboo CI/CD environment. Because the platform would handle multi-tenant workloads and arbitrary customer code, security and compliance had to be built into the architecture from the start, prompting Atlassian to evaluate Tigera’s Calico network security solution.

Atlassian implemented Tigera Calico to provide Kubernetes-native microsegmentation and enforce layered network policies across its container workloads. The solution now protects workloads running on thousands of vCPUs in AWS, enables global policy changes in under 15 minutes, and gives platform and application teams clear separation of responsibilities. Tigera’s technology helped Atlassian improve security, respond faster to incidents, and increase agility across its Kubernetes platform.
