Resource planning system enhances efficiency at the new Kainuu hospital

The customer, the Kainuu Social Welfare and Health Care Joint Authority, faced the challenge of increasing efficiency and streamlining operations for a new hospital under construction. They required an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to support a lean operational model and improve communication across the entire care chain. The vendor, Tietoevry, in partnership with Imatis, provided a new ERP system to integrate with their existing Lifecare healthcare information system.

The solution implemented by Tietoevry and Imatis provided a modern ERP system for resource planning, patient flow, and logistics, which was piloted ahead of the hospital's opening. This new system enhances patient safety through structured treatment plans and gives clinicians more time with patients by improving information sharing. The results are expected to generate long-term annual cost savings of 5-6 million euros by making healthcare provision 10% more efficient. The vendor, Tietoevry, was also responsible for the deployment, support, and user training.
