Kuopio University Hospital - Customer Case Study

The customer, Kuopio University Hospital, worked with the Finnish Intensive Care Consortium and Tietoevry to address the challenge of manually compiling and reporting data for its national intensive care quality register. The challenge was to develop a data-secure service that could automate disease-specific data collection to support and improve the quality of intensive care and anesthesia work across Finland.

Tietoevry implemented a benchmarking service that automatically collects core data on disease severity, treatments, and outcomes from hospital information systems. This solution streamlined data compilation, stored information in a national quality database, and freed up time for care work. The results included reliable, comparable information for improving care quality nationally, successful national coordination during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the service has since been adopted by units in Switzerland and Estonia.
