Fixing roads with a mobile solution integrated into milk trucks

The Finnish Transport Agency (FTA) faced a challenge in monitoring the condition of less-traveled roads due to a lack of resources, which was essential for daily operations like Valio's milk transport. To gain better real-time insight into road quality and damage, they partnered with vendor Tietoevry for a pilot project.

Tietoevry developed an integration that connected its existing KAMU information system on Valio's milk trucks to the FTA's systems, enabling drivers to easily report road issues via a mobile solution. This provided the FTA with accurate, real-time data, leading to 20 successful repairs during the initial pilot. The solution allows problems to be addressed swiftly, improving safety for all rural road users and securing Valio's logistical operations.
