Automatia Launching Finland's first real-time mobile payment platform

The customer, Automatia, which operates Finland's national ATM network, faced the challenge of modernizing the country's payment landscape. The existing banking system was a closed architecture, causing Finland to lag behind other nations in offering real-time mobile payments. Automatia partnered with vendor Tietoevry to create a secure, PSD 2-compliant platform that would enable instant person-to-person transfers and propel the Finnish financial ecosystem into the future.

Tietoevry developed and launched Siirto, Finland's first real-time mobile payment platform. This solution used open APIs to create a new, agile network, allowing consumers to transfer money between banks in seconds using just a mobile phone number. The result was a dramatic change in consumer payment behavior and the creation of a successful new financial ecosystem involving most of Finland's banks and payment players.
