The Hospital District of South Ostrobothnia faced the challenge of the nationwide Finnish health and social services reform, which required a significant transition from municipal systems to a new structure for the wellbeing services counties. This necessitated major changes to their organizational structures and information systems. They partnered with vendor Tietoevry, with whom they had a long-standing relationship using the Lifecare patient information system.

Tietoevry's solution was to facilitate a strong co-development network with the hospital district and other counties. This collaborative approach allowed the customer to have a stronger influence on the development of the Lifecare system, harmonized deployments, and created a foundation for significant cost savings and cost predictability. The long-term partnership with Tietoevry ensured a controlled system renewal, providing a seamless path from their old Effica system to the new Lifecare platform in preparation for the formation of the new wellbeing services county.
