Vancouver Public Schools enhance IT security with TierPoint and Fortinet

Vancouver Public Schools, Washington’s seventh-largest district serving more than 22,000 students, needed to modernize and consolidate an aging security infrastructure to protect district-managed devices and a growing BYOD environment while meeting CIPA requirements. Lacking in-house managed security capacity, they engaged TierPoint for a turnkey solution.

TierPoint deployed a Fortinet-based solution—FortiGate appliances, FortiAnalyzer and FortiClient licenses—consolidating four separate systems into a single, ASIC-accelerated NGFW with remote web filtering, captive portal, application control, device fingerprinting and an HA cluster for high availability. The rollout reduced support costs and hardware, enabled expanded BYOD and iPad 1:1 deployments, met compliance requirements and delivered scalable, up to 20 Gbps protection with 24x7 support.
