Case Study: Plaid Pantry achieves PCI compliance and secure, simplified wireless with TierPoint

A TierPoint Case Study

Regional retail chain implements a secure wireless solution to provide security and simplicity

Plaid Pantry, a privately owned convenience-store chain with 100+ locations across Portland, Salem and Seattle, needed a business-grade wireless LAN that was both secure and simple to use. Their top priorities were maintaining PCI compliance and protecting corporate and store networks from rogue wireless devices that could threaten payment-card and operational security.

TierPoint, partnering with Aruba Networks, implemented Aruba access points and controllers with wireless intrusion detection/prevention, dual SSIDs (WPA2 for employees and a captive-portal guest network) and role/device-based firewalls. The deployment met PCI requirements, automatically detected and blocked offending devices, and gave IT staff greater control—resulting in improved security, faster management and lower operational costs.
